US President Donald Trump has announced that planned military strikes on Iran have been put on hold, claiming that the “perimeters of a deal” have been agreed upon. According to Trump, the attacks will remain suspended if negotiations move forward quickly.
Trump said the proposed agreement would require Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz immediately and end concerns over its nuclear programme. However, neither the White House nor any regional mediator has released details confirming such a deal.
Iran has strongly denied Trump’s claim that it requested the US to delay military action. Iranian officials described the statement as false and said their armed forces remain on high alert, warning they will respond decisively to any future attack.
Saudi Arabia has reportedly urged both sides to avoid further escalation, while regional countries including Qatar and Pakistan are continuing diplomatic efforts to restart talks between Washington and Tehran.
Despite Trump’s announcement, the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, disrupting global oil shipments. Analysts say there is still no confirmed breakthrough, and the situation could change quickly if negotiations fail.
